Eclipse Global Events are the events division of Impact International. Chocks Away is one of Eclipse’s most popular events. In three hours participants are required to split into teams and build separate elements for a half-scale bi-plane, from an assortment of paper, card and string. At the end of three hours each element of the plane must fit together to build a completed plane. As a final test the completed plane must withstand the weight of one team member who is invited to sit in the cockpit.
My design evokes the old metal ‘wings’ which pilots were awarded after passing their flying examinations. As part of my design proposals, I also illustrated how the logo could be used on stationery, leaflets, a website and a roller banner.
