Engaging and inspiring learning experiences
Amongst my many other services, I’ve also had considerable experience in lecturing and teaching, through writing and delivering engaging and inspiring learning experiences.
Further Education
This all started back in the mid nineties, when I co-wrote and produced an interactive learning module in association with Cumbria College of Art and Design (now the University of Cumbria). The module, named Adapt, was an introduction to, and was aimed at anyone interested in starting, a new career in Graphic Design. The first phase of the course was delivered on interactive CD-ROM, with occasional hands-on ‘workshops’ written and delivered by me. Phase 2, written entirely by me, was then delivered ‘live’ over the internet, making the whole process of adding new material much easier.
Following on from this I was invited, by Cumbria College of Art and Design (now the University of Cumbria), to write and deliver a HND level module Professional Practice. This module was delivered to students in their final year of the HND Graphic Design course, and was designed to assess and improve the students knowledge and application of professional practices when producing, completing and outsourcing complex projects.
This HND level module was so popular I was then invited to ‘up the ante’ and re-write and deliver the module for BA level Graphic Design students in their final year before graduation.
Schools
A short while after this BA level module was completed, my name was then passed to the AimHigher organisation, and I was invited to write and deliver a block-module of ten lessons/lectures in various schools throughout Cumbria. Aimed at children who had no plans to enter into further education, the purpose of my module was to engage and inspire 14-15 year old pupils to consider college or university and potentially a career in Graphic Design.
Business training
I have also provided basic, intermediate and advanced training in the use of Apple computer systems and professional software packages including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, QuarkXPress (and many others) for schools, colleges and professional business environments.
I throughly enjoy all kinds of teaching, lecturing and training experiences, and have had very positive feedback from everyone I provide this service for.
